  TileSecure

APPLICATION GUIDELINES:

Metal: Prepare all metal in a manner to ensure maximum adhesion. Remove all rust, scale and residue by wiring brushing to a bright metal sheen. Remove films, coatings and oils with an appropriate solvent such as alcohol.
*ChemLink recommends that coated substrates be tested for adhesion prior to starting a project. Please contact Technical Services for specific application guidelines and recommendations.

Concrete: Fully cure and dry concrete and masonry substances prior to application of the sealant. Remove any combination by mechanical abrasion, sand blasting or power washing.

Wood: Wood should be clean, sound and dry prior to sealant application. Allow treated wood to weather for 6 months prior to application. Remove all coating and paint (or test for compatibility) to ensure proper bonding.

Priming: In most cases TileSecure will not require a primer. However, certain application or substrates may require a primer to ensure a long lasting bond and weatherproof seal. It is the applicator’s responsibility to determine the need for a primer. ChemLink recommends, for any application where prolonged immersion is anticipated, a primer be used for best performance.

Application: TileSecure is a one component, ready-to-use material that requires no mixing. It is recommended that a quality caulking gun be used to ensure ease of application. After joint preparation is complete, cut the plastic nozzle at the joint opening. Begin gunning to fill the joint from the bottom to the surface. Ensure there are no voids or air pockets in the sealant bead. Dry tool the sealant to create a strong mechanical bond against the joint faces. Do not use TileSecure in temperatures below 30 degrees F. TileSecure can be painted after 24 hours. TileSecure can be used in vertical or overhead working conditions.

Curing: TileSecure typically skins over in 20-45 minutes and cures through in 3 to 7 days depending upon temperature, humidity and bead thickness. Lower temperatures and humidity prolong cure time. Higher temperatures accelerate cure time.

LIMITATIONS AND GUIDELINES:

  • Horizontal applications will require tooling.
  • In areas of prolonged chemical exposure contact Technical Services for recommendations.
  • Do not allow uncured TileSecure to come into contact with uncured silicone sealants.
  • Allow treated wood to “cure” for six months prior to the application per APA guidelines.
  • Do not use in areas subject to continuous immersion.
  • Do not store in elevated temperatures.
  • TileSecure will not freeze during storage. To ensure easy gunning, bring to room temperature before application.

Caution: Avoid prolonged contact with skin. Uncured adhesive irritates eyes. In case of contact with eyes, immediately flush with water. Call a physician. Please refer to the MSDS for First Aid information. Most current MSDS is available at www.chemlinkinc.com or contact ChemLink.

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

Shelf Life: One year from date of manufacture when store in normal environments. High temperatures and high relative humidity may significantly reduce the product shelf life.

Storage: Store in original, unopened container in a cool, dry area. Protect unopened containers from heat and direct sunlight. Elevated temperatures will reduce shelf life.

Clean-Up: Wet sealant can be removed using a solvent such as alcohol. Cured TileSecure can be removed by abrading or scraping the substrate.

Read and ensure that the most up-to-date MSDS and technical guidelines are being followed. Proper use and application are the responsibility of the applicator. Direct any questions to Technical Services at 800-826-1681 prior to starting the project.
